Fund raiser for not-for-profit organization
About this position:
CANADIGM
The Canadian Historical Documentation & Imaging Group
Fund Raiser
Part-time volunteer position
About CANADIGM:
Our mission statement: CANADIGM is a not-for-profit research group dedicated to advancing public education and awareness of events, artifacts, and sites of historical significance, and to preserving their legacies through advanced documentation technologies and media.
CANADIGM is based in London, Ontario and is a group consisting of visual artists, photographers, former educators, mechanical technicians, as well as media and logistics professionals, all of whom are volunteers.
The group’s first project is called Souterraine Impressions. It involves documenting, researching and recreating images and carvings made in 1917 by over 200 Canadian soldiers hiding from the enemy in underground caves in France prior to joining the Battle for Vimy Ridge. These First World War soldiers carved into the chalk walls to pass the time, but also to leave behind something by which to be remembered – something which has never before been fully documented.
Commencing in 2014, the group will start a cross-Canada tour of an interactive display exhibit highlighting the soldiers’ carvings and their stories, as a way of honouring and respecting their memory. The exhibit will bring to life in vivid detail this largely unknown part of the First World War.
CANADIGM has received excellent national media attention to date, including coverage by CTV National News and the Discovery Channel’s Daily Planet.
About the fund raiser’s role:
We are seeking an experienced individual who is inspired by our mission to preserve and document the memories of these Canadian soldiers. The role of this person will be to promote CANADIGM to corporations and government bodies for sponsorship and donations needed to offset costs of the project, leading up to the centenary of the Battle for Vimy Ridge in 2017.
Reporting to the board of directors and the executive director, this person will be responsible for CANADIGM’s fundraising efforts including:
About you:
